Every component also takes blendMode · opacity · visible · maskSource/maskType · boundingBox · id

Like a close view of a fingerprint or combed grain, its fine marks gather along a visible direction. The texture shows direction more clearly than a field of rounded patches.

`scale` defaults to 1.5 and ranges from -2 to 5; higher values make the pattern finer. `frequency` defaults to 8 and ranges from 1 to 24; it controls the number of waves inside each cell, so higher values make the grain denser. `contrast` defaults to 0 and ranges from -1 to 5; higher values sharpen color transitions. `balance` defaults to 0 and ranges from -1 to 1, shifting the mix between the two colors. `speed` defaults to 1 and ranges from 0 to 5, changing how quickly the pattern moves.

This generator draws directly on the canvas. Pair it with `BlueNoise` for grain at different scales, or use it alone for a directional background. Dense marks can reduce the legibility of small text, so lower `frequency` and `contrast` behind copy.

When to use

Use it for fingerprint-like abstract backgrounds, directional surface texture, and fine moving patterns. Avoid it when you want soft color patches without a visible direction.
